Yeah, I was 13 in the O.C. in '85, and there's a very good chance I watched this live. Being bullied at school (actually one of the most stressful years of my life) and cartoons (especially Robotech) were a welcome distraction. Thanks so much for posting this.

Back when MTV was MTV, the 1980s were awesome!

We were not perfect at all but we were respectful towards each other .. aaawww the 80s I sure do miss it.. the music the clothes the commercials were even nice.. waiting for the street lights to come on to bring it on in closer to the porch stoop Super tv with the 1 channel that played some really cool shows.. Mtv. VH1 Friday nite videos.. soul train moon man connection solid gold etc.. sitting outside with Kool aid or tang juice just shooting the breeze with neighbors on Saturday morning . Nobody feeling like they will be harmed by anyone... To all the 70s and 80s fam .. I appreciate all of you.. you helped make the 70s and 80s a great time to be alive we all had a hand in that.. no matter how much these disrespectful people try to destroy this country no one can take from us the beautiful time we had just being.. we lived it we know what it felt like to enjoy just being cool kids of the 70s and 80s God bless all of you Ms Skylar

Just watched the OG Inspector Gadget with my 8 yr old son who recently saw the new version and really liked it. Showed him this, though! He says it was way better!

I was 5 in 1975 and what a flashback - I remember all of these cartoons and commercials.

After school I'd run home to catch these cartoons. ROBOTECH VOLTRON TRANSFORMERS HEMAN GIJOE BATTLE OF THE PLANETS

How come there wasn't a 10 times episode of SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK?

I listened to the radio simulcast of this episode in November of 1984. I was looking forward to the Michael Jackson tribute. I liked the tributes to Michael that FNV did in 1988 when it devoted episodes to all of The King Of Pop’s classic videos and MLB great Dave Winfield, Sean Lennon, and Ahmad Rashad were the hosts. As for this episode, I like the songs by Culture Club and Stevie Wonder and Private Reel with Darryl Hall and John Oates. “I Just Called To Say I Love You” made me realize the greatness of Stevie. I heard the song a lot and liked it, but rarely saw the video. I’m glad it’s here in this episode of FNV. The artists featured in the Private Reel segment were insightful.

There's a blind school near me. It's heartwarming when i see them take families around the neighbourhood (across traffic too), all wearing blindfolds so they can experience a little of what it is to be blind. They're making the effort to understand.

MTV - four decades ago, when it actually played MUSIC videos, and hadn't been RUINED by "Yo! MTV Raps", and ended up showing a gaggle of "reality" shows of dysfunctional young people, from lazy, clueless "Eye-Talians" from "Joisy" and unwed teens getting an early start on making a train wreck of their lives.

I completely forgot Tracy Ullman was a musician. She got her own show and that show is where the Simpsons came from! That little music video is art of a decades long cultural phenomenon.
